How to Lessen the Strong Taste of Brussels Sprouts

When I was growing up my mother always cooked Brussel sprouts. It was so strong. I liked them and got accustomed to the taste of them. I haven't had them since my mother cooked them when I lived at home. I knew my children would be turned off by this so I never thought about cooking them for my family.

I searched and found how not to have that strong taste. I was correct about the strong taste was caused by overcooking them. I know that happens with broccoli if it overcooked. My teenage daughter does not like overcooked broccoli since it makes her stomach feel weird. I have learned to cook them just to the point before that strong taste comes. Yes, you learn lots with picky children.

How to Bake Avocado

3 Ways to bake an avocado (including with an egg, with cheese, and as fries).

- If you are gluten free, and you would like to eat the avocado with eggs, use gluten free tortillas.
- If you are dairy-free, use dairy-free cheese and butter/margarine.
- If you are gluten-free, use acceptable flour/starch and breadcrumbs for the fries.
- You can even use different seasonings for the fries or any of the other recipes.

Unfried Rice

This is made a bit differently than fried rice dishes but this idea is similar to how I usually make rice dishes for my family. It can be changed by adding different vegetables. If you like, you can add meat to the recipe.

Vegan Alfredo Sauce

Creamy Dairy-free One Pot Pasta

Creamy Dairy-Free One Pot Pasta is vegan but meat can be added to it. Also, to make this gluten-free, use gluten-free pasta. It says to cook the broth and non-dairy milk with the uncooked pasta. I haven't tried cooking gluten free pasta like this so I'm not sure what will happen. You can add other types of vegetables to the recipe, like corn or zucchini or anything else you might have in your kitchen or outside in your garden.

My Idea: Quinoa and Vegetables

There are different vegetables that taste good with quinoa. Some of them include corn, tomatoes,  and zucchini. There are other types of squash that most likely taste good with quinoa but I haven't tried it yet.

Soup: Easy Loaded Baked Potato Soup

This soup is cooked in the microwave but you can do it on the stove. You can also make it for your family by increasing the serving sizes. To make it dairy free, just use dairy-free milk, margarine, cheese, and sour cream substitutes. Also, Vegenaise would work well for the sour cream substitute.

The photo on this site makes this soup luck really good. This recipe is not gluten-free but it can be made gluten-free and dairy-free with simple replacements. Use gluten-free flour and dairy-free cheese and margarine (or coconut oil or any other oil that you would like to use).
